Yuvraj Singh - The Fighting Warrior

In cricket, we come across varied form of players like Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli, Brian Lara, who are considered ‘technically gifted’. Then there are the likes of Virender Sehwag, Vivian Richards, Chris Gayle who come under the category of ‘born aggressive’. But is there anyone who can be termed as a ‘warrior’? Anyone? Well, there was one who has always stood out for his heroics—Yuvraj Singh. Yuvraj was diagnosed with cancer, but he battled it out and came out as a warrior. The story does not end there, he continued his form across all formats with his comeback. Live example of such knock is IPL 2016.
After the ICC World Cup 2011, it came into notice that he is suffering with cancer. During the course of the tournament, a giant tumor was growing within his lungs every time he played. He was sick, bleeding, spitting blood, but he still continued to fight it off. It was later revealed to him by doctors that he could have died by heart attack without anyone knowing he had cancer. Leave your work for a moment, stand up and applaud a player who wanted to win the World Cup for his idol Tendulkar, despite being in pain. He deserves it!
From his ‘Player of the tournament’ performance in U-19 World Cup to 44 run knock in IPL 2016, Yuvraj has fought hard in the game. But what stood out amongst the rest has been the fighting spirit he showed in ICC World Cup 2011. Just ask yourself once, what does a guy who won India so many trophies deserve - Stone pelting or the Warrior tag?
All in all, seldom anyone considers Yuvraj a world-class player, but he has done some extraordinary things that have proved fruitful for India. Having nearly sacrificed his life to win his country and his idol the World Cup, he has surely attained ‘The fighting warrior’ tag, which for me cannot be achieved by anyone else in Cricket.
He says, "Together nothing is impossible - YOUWECAN."
Truly, Yuvi is one of his kind! Let's wish him this December 12 a very happy birthday!
