Tuppets is the name originated with the thought of ‘Theatre Puppets’, with the sole aim of enhancing the academic level of students and improvising their innate abilities. Tuppets is a performing arts department which provides Certificate Courses for fostering effective learning in one’s personal and academic life. These Long term/Short term Certificate Courses are for people from all walks of life. 

On the occasion of ‘World Theatre Day’ The Open Page collaborated with Tuppest and invited School authorities from distinct schools of Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar at Ahmedabad Management Association – AMA on that very fine evening of 27th March for an interactive seminar on ‘Theatre / Drama as Pedagogy’. We gathered around 140+ people of different schools including their Trustees, Directors, Principals, Teachers and Parents. The number of schools participated is 27+ and are few of the finest schools from the city and the capital city. 

 

The Guests and speakers of the seminar were, Dr. Suwarn Rawat – A National School of Drama Alumnus and one of the founding members in TIE- Theatre in Education firm. He is the founder member of Tuppets as well, Ms. Hansa Upadhyay – the project head of The Open Page Educator’s Awards, Mr. Archit Bhatt – The Managing Editor of The Open page and Tripada Education Trust and Ms. Pratiksha Parikh – The Academic Director of Tripada Group of Schools. The Special Guest for the day was RJ Ekta from Mirchi 104. All the speakers gave excellent speeches on ‘How we can simplify our lives if we take every situation as Drama skit and react accordingly. Dr. Suwarn Rawat mentioned his pedagogies and made the audience aware about the classroom situations. There were students as well as teachers who got trained by Suwarn sir himself for the event and showcased their acting skills with dramas on ‘Pollution and it’s after effects’ and ‘Learning from a DOT’ by teachers and students respectively. RJ Ekta gave an inspirational speech on ‘Radio is the Theatre of Mind’ and enchanted the entire slot of people present over there. Archit sir then provided all the details regarding the pilot project he ran for an entire year in his schools for teachers and students both with Dr, Suwarn Rawat. The journey of Tuppets was worth listening to.

The guests of honors for the day were Ms. Hansa Upadhyay, Mr. Archit Bhatt, Ms. Pratiksha Parikh and RJ Ekta from Mirchi 104 FM. Dr. Suwarn Rawat being the Director of TUPPETS raised the curtain from his venture and gave all the details about Theatre in Education. The program included a skit from teachers and students both who were trained by Suwarn sir himself, on the topics of ‘Pollution and its after effects’ and ‘Learning from a DOT’ respectively. The session ended with a question answer round and the audience found the journey of TUPPETS worth listening to.
